Managing Change

One of the most glaring characteristics of the mandate for nationwide wireless communications interoperability is the wide-ranging requirement for change to make the initiative achievable.  From the need for communication and collaboration between multiple jurisdictions, agencies, and disciplines across all levels of government to the revolutionary choices and alternatives available in technology and system solutions, change is by far the most critical requirement for success.  The changes that must be understood and managed are those that combine organizational inner shifts in values and behavior with outer shifts in system solutions and processes and procedures.  Understanding and managing change may also be the most difficult challenge to achieving the interoperability mandate.

Fundamental to successful change management is the clear communication of what change is needed and a sustained commitment to bring about the change.  Some of the changes, because they are overt, may be overlooked or ignored placing the initiative in jeopardy.  Roaming Intelligence recognizes the importance of change management in every aspect of an communications interoperable initiative and has, therefore, made it a fundamental part of our suite of services.
